Before every country artist had a Facebook account. Before they could tweet to their fans. And long before Instagram was even invented there was only one main way to find out what your favorite country stars were up to in Nashville. It was a country fan favorite called Country Music Magazine.

Along with the other grocery tabloids of the time Country Music along with it's sister publication Country Weekly could be purchased at the checkout line or sent to your house. These two magazine were the way we found out that Garth Brooks was taking country music by storm and that he was also leaving his wife for Trisha Yearwood. They also brought us the latest on country stars like Travis Tritt, Randy Travis, Reba McEntire and Brooks & Dunn.

Sadly for us periodical fans it was on this day in 2003, seven years before the introduction to Instagram, that the last issue of the magazine was published. Now you can get back issues and even collector issues on Ebay. According to This Day in Country Music the last issue had Martina McBride on the cover and was a salute to women in country music.
