Nineties country fans are bound to remember this big Garth Brooks tune released on this day in 1991. It was the song that introduce some people to the concept of "dust and mud". That's right it was this day in country music 28 years ago today that Garth Released "Rodeo".  Go ahead say it, Really 28 years ago! The song was Garth's "Ropin' the Wind" album and only made it to number 3 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. It did however make it all the way to number 1 in Canada.

For fans of rodeo this song was great tribute to the cowboys and cowgirls who rodeo on the weekends. It also is one of those 90's country songs that can come on the radio and you find yourself singing along. Like most of the great 90's songs it has lyrics that just stick in your head year after year.

FYI - I am a rodeo fan ever since my parents took me to one when I was about eleven in Salinas, California. I have put on my vacation bucket list the National Rodeo Finals in Las Vegas. One of these years I will actually get there, but in the meantime I enjoy getting to a PBR event or two. As a matter of fact the boys and the bulls are in the northeast next month for the Syracuse Showdown. If you have never sat ring side for a bull riding event it is a must do.
