Woodstock Turns 50
Did you get to go? Do you know someone who went in 1969 or 1994?
This weekend is the 50th anniversary of the original Woodstock Festival that took place out in Bethel and we are expecting over one hundred thousand people in the Hudson Valley this weekend to celebrate.
I'm have to say that this festival is one of those music things I wish I was a part of. I don't know why but hearing stories over the years and seeing pictures for that magical weekend only makes me wanna be there even more. I think that's why I couldn't wait to be a part of the 1994 Woodstock celebration at Winston Farms in Saugerties that drew like a half a million people.
Yeah I was there for a bit and WOW was it crazy, from the attempt to use "Woodstock money" like they do at Disney, the mud and of course the people that decided they didn't need a ticket and just crashed the gates. It was mayhem!! But I'm still really glad that I was there. I got to see Joe Cocker, Green Day, Aerosmith, Nine Inch Nails and a whole bunch more perform.
Where you at either of the Woodstock festivals? Call us at 845-473-9431, text us through the Wolf app or leave us a comment on Facebook, we would love to hear your story.
There have been a bunch of attempts to put on an anniversary festival to recapture the events that took place 50 years ago with the only only one making the cut is the celebration set for this weekend at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. The events are sold out and if you are in the town of Bethel and in Sullivan County, expect massive traffic delays and possibly some road closures, just like 50 years ago.
