Another longtime Poughkeepsie business is getting ready to close its doors, bringing an end to nearly six decades of serving the community.

Over the last few months, we've learned that several longtime businesses across the Hudson Valley have announced that they will be closing before the end of the year. Earlier this year, the Speedway gas station on Route 9 in Wappingers Falls shut its doors. Sabbellico Greenhouses & Florist in Hopewell Junction closed at the end of September after 76 years, and Frankie's Superette in Hopewell Junction has also announced that it will be closing.

Unfortunately, that trend continues as we've now learned that another longtime business in Poughkeepsie is closing soon.

New Corn Crib Greenhouse Closing Soon in Poughkeepsie

The New Corn Crib Greenhouse, located at 200 Salt Point Turnpike in Poughkeepsie, has announced that it will be closing for good on November 1, 2026, after 58 years in business. The owners made the announcement on Facebook, saying:

"It is with a heavy heart we are letting you know that after 58 years the New Corn Crib Greenhouse will be closing its doors for good effective November 1, 2026, as we just learned that we are unable to renew our lease."

For the people who have visited the greenhouse over the years, this isn't just another business closing. The New Corn Crib Greenhouse has been a familiar spot in Poughkeepsie for generations, helping local residents fill their homes with fresh fruits and vegetables and their yards with plants, flowers, and all kinds of gardening supplies.

Owners Extremely Grateful

The current owners took over the business 10 years ago and said it has been a great experience.

They also took the opportunity to recognize the employees who helped make the business what it is today. Some members of the staff have been there for most, if not all, of the past 10 years, while others actually worked for the previous owners as well.

The owners said they are extremely grateful for the hard work and dedication of their staff, along with the loyal customers who have continued to support the business over the years.

But before the doors officially close, there is still plenty of time to stop by.

Going Out of Business Sale

The New Corn Crib Greenhouse will remain open daily through November 1st, and just about everything is now on sale as the business prepares to clear everything out. Customers can expect discounts ranging from 30% to 70% off, with everything from plants and gardening supplies to furniture and equipment included in the sale.

And when they say everything must go, they mean it.

So, if you've been meaning to make one last trip to the New Corn Crib Greenhouse, now is the time. Whether you're looking for a plant, some gardening supplies, or just want to stop in and say goodbye to a longtime Poughkeepsie business, you'll have until November 1st.

After 58 years, it's certainly the end of an era.
