We have made it to July so what yummy fruits and vegetables can we find growing right here in our own back yard?

July is the month when we begin to see apples. In the leafy categories there is arugula and basil. Beets blueberries and broccoli are also fresh and delicious. According to AboutFood.com there are 30 plus fresh fruits and veggies that grow in our state that we can enjoy during this first official month of summer. For me personally I love the cherries, cucumbers and eggplant.

On a hot July evening it is always refreshing to wash off a bowl of fresh farm cherries and add them to ice cream or muddle them into an adult beverage. Cucumber Salad can be a great alternative to regular lettuce in a bowl and egg plant on the grill is a true summer treat.

Check out your local farmer's market for these July favorites or stop in to your year round farm stand. Summer BBQ season has just begun and the local fruits and veggies are waiting for you.
