Dangerous Storms Rip Through New York State
The month of June has been a tough one weather wise across New York State.
Just recently, New York was stuck under an oppressive heat dome that brought in temperatures in the 100s with a heat index anywhere between 105F and 110F.
The National Weather service issued Extreme Heat Warnings and also reported that towns across the state broke records when it came to the high temperatures. On June 24th Poughkeepsie New York hit 100F for the first time since 2011.

In June alone, there have been 4 tornadoes to have touched across the state. These tornadoes have left behind a path of destruction and unfortunately, taken lives as well.
Central, New York Tornado Blamed in Twins Death
According to localsyr.com, The National Weather Service confirmed 2 EF-1 Tornado touched down in Clark Mills, New York on June 22nd, 2025.
The website reports "Estimates project the tornado produced wind speeds up to 105 mph in the hamlet of Clark Mills within the Town of Kirkland." An EF-1 tornado is classified as a weak tornado, that can still cause significant damage.
Sadly, the EF-1 that touched down in Clark Mills took the life of 2 young sisters. Emily and Kenni Bisson died after a tree fell on their home.
Christopher M. Clancy, The Superintendent of Schools for the Clinton Central School District, confirmed the news in a statement sent out to parents writing:
With deep sorrow, I am writing to share heartbreaking news. Earlier today, a severe weather emergency in our community resulted in the tragic loss of life, including two of our elementary students. Our hearts are with all of the families and loved ones affected by this tragedy
GO Fund Me Started To Help Bisson Family
After the tragic events of the Clark Mills tornado, the community has come together to raise money for Emily and Kenni's mother Kayleigh.
A GoFundMe was set up with hopes of raising $380,000. Ryan Gerling, who created the donation page writes "The mother has lost everything, children, house, clothing and memories. "
Gerling continues:
She is now burdened with cost of not one but two funerals and all the costs that are associated with this tragedy. These girls were very popular in their small town for their enthusiasm, laughter and most of all their smiles to everyone in the community."
As of June 26th, they have raised $327,412.
