Its being done Nationally and this year it happening on Saturday October 26th.

According to Google, National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is done every year for a couple of great reasons including, making sure unused medication is safely disposed of and most importantly to help prevent drug misuse.

The stats around drug use and addiction are staggering and don't seem to be getting any better, as Google has said that 50% of people who misused prescription painkillers got them from a friend or family member.

They also said that four major reasons why safe drug disposal is important including, environmental risks, accidental use (accidental drug overdose), health risks as expired drugs may not only be ineffective, they can be harmful to the user and lastly intentional misuse, as some prescription drugs can be used to get high.

So, this is super important to take part in on Saturday, October 26, between 10 AM and 2 PM. Many collection sites have been set up across the Hudson Valley to take back all kinds of medications with no questions asked.

There are over 10 plus locations across the Hudson Valley in each of our counties excepting medications. To find one, click here and zoom in on New York.

Make sure to spread the word about this really important day in our battle with the crisis that the whole country is experiencing.
