Massive Construction at Kingston Stadium Close to Half Done
Officials in Kingston have released a progress update on the massive construction project underway at Dietz Stadium in Kinston, New York.
Three years ago a $20 million construction project was approved to update the 100-year-old Dietz Stadium in uptown Kingston, New York and since it started in 2022 the City of Kingston has been providing construction updates periodically.
Back in February of 2023, we told you that two phases of the project were almost complete including improvements and repairs to the pool, the addition of the splash pad, a complete renovation of the interior of the pool house, hazardous material testing, and site clearing. With those phases completed the city has shared a new completion update saying that they are at about 40% completion.

The current phase of construction has crews "re-grading" the grounds and removing around 163 trucks full of rocks from the site located at 170 N Front St, Kingston, NY according to the City of Kingston Facebook page. They have installed new storm water and sewer lines and are preparing to install a new water main in the next few weeks. A new ticket booth, visitor concessions stand and visitor-side storage buildings have all been erected at the complex, along with the demolition of the grandstand exterior. New site lighting pole foundations are also currently being installed.
Additional on-site crews are expecting to focus on preparing the track and field areas of the complex as part of the next phase with more contractors mobilizing in mid-May to start work on the track, turf, new scoreboard, and field lighting. Contractors are expecting to be able to power up the site in early August. Kingston hasn't said when they are expecting the entire project to be completed but did say that they expect "substantial completion" of the project by August 30, 2024.
