Something New is Coming to the Ulster County Fairgrounds
One of my favorite summer traditions is going to the Ulster County Fair. Growing up in Cornwall I didn't get to the fair as a kid but after going to college in New Paltz I was introduced to the fairgrounds and the annual fair.
I always say that the Ulster County Fair is the one that transports you back in time to when things were more fun and you had time on your hands. The Ulster County Fair does a great job each year with family entertainment every day with a pay-one-price ticket.

In addition to The Ulster County Fair, the fairgrounds themselves get loaned out for various reasons. COVID is a perfect example of how the Ulster County Fair adapted to the pandemic. They became a county vaccine site. The fairgrounds is where I was able to get my first COVID-19 vaccine.
Fast forward to being able to have events again and the fairgrounds is now hosting some amazing annual events. The Fairgrounds is also home to the Woodstock - New Paltz Arts and Craft Fair Spring Show hosted by Quail Hallow Events. Look for that at the fairgrounds from May 25th through May 27th, 2024 with local artisans and handmade original pieces.
The fairgrounds is also expected to host the 27th Annual Rosendale International Pickle Festival on Sunday, October 20th, 2024 from 10 AM to 5 PM. Between those two big events, there will be other specialty weekends and of course the Ulster County Fair from July 30 through August 4th, 2024.

So knowing that all these great events are coming to the fairgrounds it doesn't surprise me that the fairgrounds announced this week that they are putting in a new pavilion. Groundbreaking started this week thanks to Saft Electric. There is no official word on what the pavilion will be used for but I have reached out for more info. They do expect it to be ready for the fair.
