Raise your hand if you own a re-usable water bottle. I have mine raised, in fact I've lost track of how many re-usable water bottles we have at our house. They are safer, better for the environment, and they save you money.

It's not often we hear about a recall on re-usable water bottles, but today the Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced that GSI Outdoors is recalling children's water bottles due to a violation of lead safety standards. These bottles were sold exclusively at L.L. Bean.

The problem is with the solder at the exterior base of the water bottles. This solder contains high levels of lead, which can be toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health issues.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, this recall involves five styles of kids’ insulated water bottles with printed graphics of Dino Bones, Flower Power, Orange Grid camo, Purple Tie Dye Butterfly and Robo Shark. The bottles are 13.5 ounces capacity with an item identification number 297684 printed on a sticker on the bottom of the bottle. Also printed on the sticker are “PO#844” and “BB2D2-LLB-R45-0413.
