A popular brand of hair dryer sold through Walmart, Target, and Amazon has been recalled after it was discovered that it could pose the risk of electrocution.

Hair Dryers Recalled

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), a recall has been issued for 56,300 Remington hair dryers due to a significant safety hazard. Empower Brands announced the recall on August 14, 2025, for the Remington hair dryers, model number D3190DCDN.

The hair dryers (below) were sold in purple with black accents and have “Remington” written in white text on the side, and have three black-colored operating buttons on the handles. The product measures about 8.5 inches long, 11.6 inches high, and 3.6 inches wide, weighing approximately 1.5 pounds.

Why Hair Dryers Have Been Recalled

According to the CPSC, the handheld hair dryers lack an immersion protection device, which poses a risk of death or serious injury from electrocution or shock if the hair dryers fall into water while plugged in.

The hair dryers were sold exclusively online through Walmart Marketplace, Target Marketplace, and Amazon from March 2024 through June 2025. If you have a recalled hair dryer, you are advised to unplug it and discontinue use immediately.

How To Get A Refund

Empower is offering a full refund to customers who purchased the $25-$32 hair dryers. To receive the refund, consumers must submit a photo of the hair dryer with its power cord cut in half to the recall registration portal online here and follow the disposal instructions. For more information, customers can call 1-844-695-2134 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., or email HairdryerRecall@Spectrumbrands.com.

No incidents or injuries have been reported in connection with the recalled products.
