Hudson Valley Garlic Festival shared on their Facebook page today that they are "keeping their fingers crossed" that they will still be able to hold the festival this year. The event is run annually by the Kiwanis Club of Saugerties and is a big draw every fall. Last year their online tickets sold out.

If you love garlic this is an event you have to attend. If you don't love garlic then come anyway you will most likely leave a garlic lover if not you'll at least know what all the hype is about every year. You name it if is made of garlic, about garlic or cooking with garlic you will find it at the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival. You can buy garlic to eat. You can buy garlic to grow. They have cooking demos, crafts, vendors and more.

So many things have had to be canceled or postponed this summer, it will be hard if we start canceling this for this fall. Yesterday we got word the New York State Renaissance Festival was canceled and it usually starts in August. The Hudson Valley Garlic Festival is later in September so we can hold out hope. In their announcement yesterday the Kiwanis Club said that they will monitor the CDC and NYS Department of Health's recommendations and will make a final decision in August. They realize that people want this outdoor festival to take place but they are also making sure that it will be safe.

So let's try to find things to keep us busy this summer and hope that as we head into Phase 3 in this region of New York things continue to get better and that some of our Fall fun will stay on the calendar. By the way it has been suggested that because it is a garlic festival everyone would be social distancing due to garlic breathe but we all know that when we are all eating garlic you don't smell it. I thought a little humor was needed at the end of this article.
