If you attended the Garlic Festival in Saugerties earlier this year you might have already heard about the folks at the New York Chicken Shop and their amazing chicken sandwich (below), as they were selling them fast from their food truck. The response at the festival was so good that the food truck owners announced that they are preparing to open a "brick-and-mortar" store in Kingston, NY soon.
New York Chicken Shop Opening in Kingston, New York
After hearing about this Takis-encrusted chicken sandwich from a few friends who attended the Garlic Festival this year we had to do some investigating to see what all the hype was about. We reached out to the New York Chicken Shop Facebook page and talked with the owners who shared their story, along with some exciting news for chicken sandwich lovers in and around Kingston, NY, and a few pictures that have left us craving a sandwich....
They told us that both owners Steven King and Brian Morris, who ran HITS in Saugerties for 25 years decided soon after their chef Colin Crompton shared the Takis encrusted batter chicken sandwich concept that they had to give the Hudson Valley a chance to try it. As we mentioned above they started with a food truck at the Garlic Festival and it was so popular they decided to do a few pop-ups. The response was even better, so the next step was to open a shop where customers could visit and eat at one location.
When Are They Opening?
The New York Chicken Shop will take over the storefront space in the Kingston Plaza that was once occupied by Paulie Boy Hero Shop at 284 Plaza Rd, Kingston, NY. The shop will offer a small menu that will consist of its spicy or original Takis encrusted chicken sandwich, garlic buttermilk popcorn chicken, and chili lime fries. They told us they are expecting to open sometime in January 2025 and that they are "excited to bring the brand to the Kingston Plaza".
