Five Things That Will Happen Before Spring Arrives to the Hudson Valley
Goodbye February and hello March. I don't know about you, but I am ready for March and all it has to offer. March will hopefully welcome warmer weather although I realize winter still has three more weeks. Spring officially kicks in Monday, March 20 and between now and then there is lots to look forward to on my calendar. How about yours?
This coming Sunday, March 5 is the last pancake breakfast of the season at The Esopus Fire Department. If you are looking for a great breakfast the firehouse is right on 9w (1142 Broadway, Esopus) stop in between 8:30am and 11:30am, bring the whole family.
March 10, 11 and 12 marks the return of Garth Brook's to the Hudson Valley. He and wife Trisha Yearwood have 3 shows at the Times Union Center in Albany. If you still want to win tickets to see Garth in Albany be listening to CJ and Jess all this week at 7:20am for the Wolf Garth Brooks Song of the Day.
On Saturday, March 11 Paddy on the River returns to the Poughkeepsie waterfront near the Ice House. Paddy on the River is a fun filled afternoon for you and your friends over 21 years of age. Live music, Irish food and fare, plus a wide variety of refreshing beers will all be part of this annual event. Paddy on the River runs 12pm to 5pm at Waryas Park right next to the Poughkeepsie train station. Take the train to Paddy on the River from north or south. Click here for tickets. Be a VIP with Mahoney's Irish Pub and Steak House.
Sunday March 12th bring us two events, the Storm Moon, March's full moon and we lose an hour of sleep in the northeast. Yes, that is the day we give back the hour of sleep we borrowed in November.
All of these things and St. Patrick's day before spring actually arrives. Let's just hope winter weather decides to head out with February. See you at the Esopus Fire Department's pancake breakfast this Sunday to start March, but if not able to attend, here is a great recipe for your own kitchen.
