On Sunday, the Millbrook Fire Department jumped into action to help a local horse that had gotten stuck. Millbrook is New York horse country, so it does not surprise me that the fire department was able to help.

Millbrook Fire Department Came to the Rescue of a Horse Stuck on Its Side

Growing up around horses, I am all too familiar with how they can get themselves into unthinkable situations. I once had a horse end up caught in a watering trough. Fortunately, that story had a happy ending, much like Sunday's story that the Millbrook Fire Department shared on their social media.

If you are wondering how this can happen, just picture the last time you fell or even sat on the floor, then tried to get up. All too often, there are those times it is not as easy as it looks, and for horses, it can be tricky. There is a reason they sleep standing up.

The horse was lying on a hill, which made it difficult for the animal to right itself. With Horses, the longer they are down, the harder it is to get up on their own. The post didn't state why the horse was on the ground, but it most likely attempted a morning roll and ended up stuck on its side due to the angle of the ground.

Once on scene, the fire department called in backup from the Patterson Equine Team and Matt's Auto Body. It took a few attempts, but by 9:15 AM the horse was back on its feet with everyone relieved.,

Thank you to Dr. Donoghue and Millbrook Equine. The following quote was sent after the alarm. “Not enough words to express the gratitude to this amazing team !!! " (Millbrook Fire Department NY via Facebook)
