Chainsaw Recall Due to Fire and Burn Hazards
If you or anyone you know owns a STIHL chainsaw, this is information you need.
According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, STIHL is recalling some models of their chainsaws because of a danger that the fuel line can get pinched and/or leak, which could lead to fires and burns.
Included in this recall are the STIHL MS-461 gas-powered chain saw and the MS-461 R Chain saw with the wrap handle. You can find the model number on the model plate, located on the starter cover. They are orange and gray and say STIHL on the engine cover. Chain saws with serial numbers between 173092800 and 181993952 are impacted by this recall. You can find your model's serial number under the front hand guard on the sprocket side.
There have been over a hundred complaints about pinching or leaking fuel lines. Thankfully, there have been no injuries. If you own one of these saws, you are being asked to stop using it immediately and return them to an authorized STIHL dealer for a free inspection and free repair.
