Have kids that are interested in sailing? Maybe your looking for something new for them to try out in the warmer months.

If you've ever thought about having your kids pick up sailing as a hobby or fun outdoor activity but thought better because you thought it would be to expensive to do, this could be something you could take advantage of.

According to the Hudson River Maritime Museum website, they offer a bunch of week long sailing programs throughout the summer where students, ages 9-17 get to learn the basics of sailing on sailboats. They said they focus on safety, learning and of course fun.

During the week they offer learning activities, games, drills, all with the goal being at the end of each week, for all students to feel comfortable sailing on the water and to become capable, safe basic sailors. The sailing programs start at around $450 for the week.

If you're a parent that can't afford the price tag that comes along with the program, they have announced that the Youth Sailing Scholarship is now accepting applications for scholarships that are being offered by the City of Kingston, Kingston Sailing Club, and Nyquist Foundation, to help in bring the total coast down.

To apply for the scholarships, they have an online form that you need to fill out by May 1, 2020 and they will award scholarships on June 1, 2020.
