The accident took place on Thursday in Red Hook.

According to a press release from the New York State Police, a 44-year-old from Elizaville in Columbia County has passed away after being injured in a bulldozer accident.

Police were called just after 1 p.m. on Thursday to respond to a reported incident involving a bulldozer and a person at 7775 Albany Post Road in Red Hook.

When police arrived and started their investigation they found that the Elizaville woman was struck by an 18 ton field tread bulldozer.

The woman was working for Jeff Decker & Son Inc. and was working with other co-workers leveling a field when Police said the accident took place.

Here is what police know as of now: an equipment operator was moving the 18-ton machine to make a minor adjustment to the blade and noticed that his partner had been struck by the bulldozer and was seriously injured. The equipment operator called 911 and requested EMS and Police respond to the location.

The woman was transported by Northern Dutchess Paramedics to Northern Dutchess Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The police stated that their investigation is continuing and that the victim’s name is being withheld at this time pending notification to her next of kin.
