
Maple Syrup, Icy Cocktails and Cockroaches: It’s Happening in Cornwall New York
Winter fun is underway at one of the Hudson Valley's favorite Nature Centers, the Hudson Highland Nature Center (HHNC) in Cornwall, New York. The center offers many winter activities including tours about the Hudson Valley Maple Sugar process.

Where Can You Learn About Maple Syrup Making in the Hudson Valley
The HHNC has an event coming up where you can learn all about Maple Sugar. On February 8th, 2025 everyone is invited to come to Sweet Maple Saturday: Maple Sugar Kick-Off Day. This day begins a series of tours that run every weekend through March 9th, 2025 at the HHNC's location at 120 Muser Drive in Cornwall, New York.

Learn how to identify maple trees and how to tap sugar from them. You will also learn about sugaring processes used by Native Americans, pioneers, and the modern-day farmer. The Maple Sugar tours are family-friendly but if you are looking for something more adult-oriented don't miss Nature on Ice an evening in honor of the HHNC's Education Staff that features an Ice Throne and Bar, ice craving plus live carving at the event by local ice artist Bill Bywater.
Enjoy A Night on Ice Under the Stars in Cornwall, New York
Tickets are on sale now for this event on Sunday, February 2, 2025. Enjoy beer, wine, and warm drinks from the open bar along with passed hours d'oeuvres. Warm up by the fire pit and heaters. This is an adults-only event find out more and order tickets at hhnaturecenter.org/natureonice.
The Hudson Highlands Nature Center also is offering something fun for everyone who likes bugs and Valentine's Day. Help support the HHNC by naming a cockroach for someone you love or maybe not.
