Police Need Help Identifying Man After Incident at Popular Ice Cream Stand in Orange County, NY

If you've visited one of the Hudson Valley's most popular ice cream destinations recently, police are asking you to take a close look at a photo that could help with an active investigation.

The Town of Warwick Police Department is asking for the public's help identifying an individual wanted for questioning following a reported incident of lewd sexual conduct near Bellvale Creamery in Orange County, New York.

According to police, the incident happened on Sunday, July 26, at approximately 7:27 p.m. in the area of Bellvale Creamery in Warwick. Detectives with the Town of Warwick Police Department's Detective Bureau say they are actively investigating the incident and have released a photo of an individual they are trying to identify.

The photo appears to show a white male who looks to be in his late 20s or early 30s with long hair, possibly tied back in a ponytail. He also appears to have several tattoos, including one on his hand.

Based on witness accounts, the individual was seen leaving the area on foot immediately after the incident. Police said he fled toward the Appalachian Trail and appeared to continue hiking through the area.

Bellvale Creamery, located at 1390 NY-17A in Warwick, is a popular summertime destination that attracts visitors from across the Hudson Valley and beyond, especially on warm weekends. Because of the large crowds it draws, investigators are hopeful someone may recognize the individual or remember seeing him in the area around the time of the incident.

At this time, police have not released any additional details about the investigation or the circumstances surrounding the reported lewd sexual conduct, but they did say the investigation remains active.
