Unemployment Rates Increase Across the Hudson Valley
It's a scary thought, but unfortunately having and keeping a job today is much harder compared to how it was in the past.
According to the Daily Freeman, unemployment rates in the Hudson Valley have had an increase this past year. These numbers and percentages are based off of recent data from the Department of Labor.
Here is a a breakdown of the unemployment increase in these counties:
Ulster County went up from 3.6% to 3.9%
Dutchess County went up from 3.5% to 3.8%
Greene County went up from 4% to 4.4%
Columbia County went up from 2.9% to 3.1%
Orange County went up from 3.8% to 4.1%
Delaware County went up from 3.9% to 4.4%
The overall state unemployment rate went up from 4% to 4.2%
The county that actually had a decrease in unemployment was Sullivan County. The number dropped from 3.5% to 3.4%, this decrease is linked to the large casino opening up more jobs out that way.
Especially with the holiday season coming up, hopefully these numbers will decrease.
