We had no idea that Accord had so much to offer!

More and more we are realizing that Ulster County is full of great places to spend a day with the family. One place you might have never thought about spending anytime is the small hamlet of Accord.

Accord, along with Milan, New York is one of the Hudson Valley towns that have the most commonly mispronounced names in the area. It's pronounced "AHH-KORD", emphasis on the A! Most people not from the area mistakenly say it the same way they say Honda's Accord, "uh-kord".

Now that we have the correct way to say it out of the way, here are five things that we love in Accord.....

Accord Speedway

If you've never been to a dirt track racing event, the Accord Speedway located at 299 Whitfield Rd, Accord, NY is one of the only places in the Hudson Valley to watch real dirt track racing. The 1/4 mile dirt track has been open for racing for many years and according to Kayla who sent us a message, "Accord races weekly on Friday nights. Their season started this past Friday and continues through the summer until about September. They also do a race in October for Halloween and November for Thanksgiving." For the full racing schedule check out Accord Speedway on Facebook.

Roller Skate

Skate Time 209 was a popular place for many to roller skate for many years and was one of only a handful of roller skating rinks open to the public. A while back the rink's name was changed to Neighborhood 209 and then unfortunately closed as a precautionary measure due to the current health situation according to their website. I gave them a call to see if they had any idea if and when they might reopen but got an answering machine that confirmed that they are still currently closed. If that changes we will update this article.

Best Christmas Trees

Once it's time again for us to start thinking about where to get this year's Christmas tree we have some great news for you! This year you won't need to think very hard because Accord has one of the best Christmas tree farms in all of the Hudson Valley. Every year as Christmas approaches the Bell Family opens up their farm with one thing in mind, "Our goal is to provide quality, fresh-cut trees to smiling faces year after year. We think the enthusiasm, hard work, knowledge, and atmosphere we provide will make your day nothing less than memorable." A few years back the Bell family welcome us and gave us a tour of their farm and I have to say it was a great experience and I can't wait to go back out this year to get my fresh-cut tree. Bell's Christmas Trees is located at 647 Mettacahonts Rd, Accord, NY.
