Port Ewen has a rich history as a part of the maritime activity on the Rondout. Plus with shipping on both the river and the railroad. Today it is part of the doorway to the Catskills. People traveling Route 9W through Northern Ulster County pass right through Port Ewen and all its charm. It actually still has sidewalks on both sides making it easy to walk around.

Businesses line those streets and regular customers stop in for their favorites. Places like Smitty's Deli and Van Loans Discount Beverage have been serving Port Ewen for generations. Mario's Pizza got a big shout-out for their delicious food. And newcomer Emily's Cookies has fit right in with their delicious treat.

The Port Ewen Diner changed hands a few years ago but it still is a favorite place for locals to go which means if you are traveling through it is a good place to stop for lunch.
