Poughkeepsie Inn Property Set To Be Demolished
The highly visible Poughkeepsie Inn along Route 9 is set to be demolished in the near future after sitting empty for nearly two years.
The Poughkeepsie Journal reports the 80-year-old property is in for a makeover when they're done clearing the land later this year. The new development will be called 'South Road Crossing' and will feature a 120 room hotel, restaurant with a drive-thru and a bank to go along with 17,000 square feet of retail space.
The building was originally constructed in 1940 and underwent several additions. It was an Econo Lodge until November of 2009 when the business went independent.
In July of 2017 just a few months before it closed, there was an armed robbery at the Inn which led to lengthy prison sentences for two Millerton men.
What should be built in the new South Road Crossing development? We're thinking a White Castle would be a great fit, how about you?
