Police say a Hudson Valley women told others their building was on fire, spoiler alert, it wasn't.

On Thursday around 8 a.m., the Saugerties Police Department responded to a 911 call at the Birches on Route 9W for a reported disorderly subject.

Police allege 59-year-old Veronica Morvay, who lives at the complex, was going door to door in the complex, ringing residents' doorbells and telling them they had to evacuate their apartment because the building was on fire.

The building wasn't on fire, police say.

When Morvay was confronted by an employee of The Birches, who questioned why she was telling others the building was on fire, Morvay slapped the employee in the face and told the employee to leave her alone, insisting that the building was on fire, police say.

Morvay was arrested and charged with harassment. She was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
