There was no doubt that today would be a heavy traffic day but it appears part of Orange County has hit a snag.

Just after 9 AM, according to 511NY.org, traffic in the Woodbury Commons Outlet Mall area began backing up. Various traffic incidents are the cause. Currently, State Route 32 through this area is back up plus, Exit 131 in both directions off Route 17 is currently closed.

Obviously, this was going to be a busy area on what is one of the biggest holiday shopping days of the year. The other issue is the number of roads that intersect in this part of Orange County. Holiday volume post-Thanksgiving and shopping could be blamed for the congestion.

Whatever the cause if you don't have to be in the area you should avoid it.  The latest updates from around noon today had numerous roads closed, including entrances to Woodbury Commons. Exit 131 in Central Valley is also closed and traffic is being diverted.
