Opry Legend Featured This Week on The Original Country Gold With Rowdy Yates
If you have a favorite country song, or two, that you haven’t heard in awhile, chances are that Rowdy Yates has it and will play it for you weekends on The Original Country Gold with Rowdy Yates, Saturday nights from 7 to midnight and Sunday mornings from 6-11.
This week, Rowdy will be shining the spotlight on the music and career of John Conlee, who was recently awarded the Opry Legend award from his home state of Kentucky.
He didn't start his working life in music though, he was a mortician first and then became a DJ at a local radio station. He moved to Nashville in 1971 and seven years later he had his first hit that went to #5 on the charts.
He would go on to release 11 albums, have 32 singles on the Billboard charts with seven #1, including this song, his very first #1 song.
That’s one of the things I love about Rowdy’s show, whether he’s playing an older artist like Kenny or Merle Haggard, or younger ones like Garth, Alan Jackson, etc, it always bring backs memories and I find myself singing along before I know it.
Don’t miss John Conlee, as Rowdy plays two of his hits each hour this weekend on The Original Country Gold with Rowdy Yates, Saturday night from 7 to midnight and Sunday morning from 6-11 on 94.3/97.3 The Wolf.
