Movies For Those With Special Needs Showing This Weekend in Dutchess County
Going to the movies can be a lot of fun. You pick the perfect seat, snacks in hand, and can hardly wait until the lights go out and the sound comes up. But, for some people, what you look forward to the most can cause them the most stress and anxiety.
For individuals with sensory sensitivities, having the lights go out is not a pleasant experience and when the sound comes roaring out of the speakers all around the theater, it can be uncomfortable, even painful. Plus, being able to sit still and be quiet during a film isn’t always easy, or possible.
That’s about to change, at least for this Saturday. Thanks to Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro and the ThinkDifferently campaign, individuals with special needs and their families are invited to have some free, movie fun on Saturday, May 12 at 10 am at the Roosevelt Cinemas on Route 9 in Hyde Park.
Seating is limited to the first 150 people, so here's where you can register. Don't wait, these tickets will go fast.
