It's the most wonderful time of the year if you're a fan of haunted anything and eating candy. Halloween is almost here and we have the breakdown of the most popular candies in New York.

If you remember a few years ago in 2013 The Washington Post published an article that stated Poughkeepsie, in Dutchess County, was the best town in the United States for Trick or Treating. However, in recent years Poughkeepsie has fallen off the list completely( for 2016 Philadelphia took the top spot.) Since Poughkeepsie has disappeared from the list, I have been looking for the reason why. And I think I found it.

Using 8 years of data, CandyStore.com has compiled a list of the most popular candies in each state. The site collected data, how many pounds of a certain candy they sold, from the three months leading up to Halloween from 2007 to 2015. These were their results:

New York Most Popular Candy:

Sour Patch Kids: 198,061lbs
Candy Corn: 95,047lbs
Reese Peanut Butter Cups: 39,603lbs

That's our problem right there in writing. Terrible taste in candy...besides the Peanut Butter Cups of course. If we bought more Reese Peanut Butter Cups we would most definitely be on the top of the most popular trick or treat spots.

What are your favorite Halloween candy? Are you a fan of Candy Corn? Help us compile a list of the best Halloween candies so the Hudson Valley can be back to being one of the best trick or treating towns in the US.
