Iconic Home Delivery Service is Going Out Of Business
One of the first companies to ever offer home-delivered foods has announced they are ending operations.
In today's world having things delivered to your house is something many of us take for granted. For some of us 'older" folks, we remember the days of having to actually go to the store to buy many of the things that are easily delivered to our homes today.
1st Home Delivered Food Service
I'm not sure if everyone had the option back in the day to buy frozen foods the way we did in the small town I grew up in outside of Windham, NY. Every couple of weeks the "Schwan's man", driving the iconic yellow Schwan's truck would make a stop at our house in Ashland, NY, and would give us a chance to buy a variety of frozen foods right off the truck. If I remember correctly my mom would fill out an order form with everything we needed and when he arrived, she would give it to him and he would proceed to fill the order from the back of the truck.
Back then having food delivery to your house wasn't routine, today it's something almost every company does and that could be why the company formerly known as Schwan's, is ending operations.
Schwan's Home Delivery Food Service
72 years ago Marvin Schwan started the frozen food service in Minnesota and soon after the Schwan company was a nationwide name. In March of 2022, Schwan's announced they were rebranding and changing the company name to Yelloh, to try and grab more customers in an extremely competitive food delivery market. Unfortunately, the name change didn't help and the company decided they would close various locations across the country.

In June we shared that Yelloh announced they would be closing all of its New York locations and now it appears that they will be permanently parking its iconic yellow delivery vehicles according to WKYC.
Yelloh Closing All Locations
After announcing that the company would be ceasing all operations on Monday company CEO Bernardo Santana said,
"It’s with heavy hearts that we made the difficult decision to cease operations of Yelloh. We are thankful to our many loyal customers and hard-working employees for everything they have done to support us. I am deeply grateful for our employees’ tireless and bold efforts, and our customers’ dedication. It has been our utmost pleasure and honor to serve our customers their favorite meals and frozen treats."
When Will Yelloh Close?
Customers will still be able to order products through November 8th, as the company said they won't immediately cease operations but will slowly "wind down" to closure over the next several weeks and informed its remaining employees that their last day of employment will be November 22nd.
