Visitors of The Hudson Valley, Please Don’t Do These Things
We are happy you are here but can you please refrain from doing these things?
This time of year, the Hudson Valley prepares for an influx of people visiting the area from all over the country. Many of the out-of-towners make the trip to our hometowns to enjoy everything we love about the Hudson Valley.

The big draw to the area this time of year is the changing of the leaves (leaf peepers) and apple and pumpkin picking. We completely understand the thrill of driving into the Hudson Valley and seeing the mountains covered by the amazing orange, brown, and yellow colors on the trees and the smiles the kids have on their faces when they get to run around the local orchards picking their own fruits.
Hudson Valley Loves Visitors
We love these things as well but there are a few things that Hudson Valley residents don’t understand the behaviors that come along with visiting the Hudson Valley so, to make your visit more enjoyable, we’ve come up with a few things we would like to ask anyone visiting the area this time of year.
Visiting the Hudson Valley? Don’t Do These Things
Please do NOT honk your car horn at us after you’ve been sitting behind us at a green light for less than 5 seconds. Give us a second and we will start driving.
Please do NOT leave your car at the gas pump while you go shopping and use the restroom inside the gas station. Pull into a parking spot so we can all access the gas pumps.
Speaking of parking, please do NOT take up more than one parking space in a parking lot. We understand that you may think your car is worth more than ours but we all need to park. Also please do NOT park so close to another car that it makes it impossible for anyone to open their car doors.
Please do NOT leave your garbage lying all over the place. If you are hiking and bring something in with you, make sure you bring it out with you. Put all your litter in a garbage can.
Please do NOT try to beat any of the area traffic by driving into the one lane of the road that is about to close to try and sneak back in ahead of everyone else. Remember you aren’t the only person in the world trying to get somewhere.
I think the "zipper merge" issue is one we can all agree on, right?
We are happy you’ve decided to spend some time in the area and if you can give our requests above some consideration, we think we will all be much happy. If you are in town and are looking for a place to grab a bite to eat here are some suggestions....Enjoy the Hudson Valley!
