Hudson Valley Man Sold Heroin That Led to Overdose Death in Area
A Hudson Valley man confessed he sold heroin to a local man that ended up killing the man.
On Friday in Orange County Court, 29-year-old Alban K. Rowe of Walden pleaded guilty to criminal sale of a controlled substance for selling heroin that later killed a man in his Village of Montgomery home.
The New York State Police and Village of Montgomery Police responded to the death at the Village of Montgomery home in the early morning hours of July 18, 2018. Following an investigation, police determined the man died of an overdose after he injected heroin he purchased from Rowe.
“The lethal nature of heroin, and the fentanyl that is frequently sold with it, has been well documented and well publicized,” Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler said. "My office will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to give cases involving fatal overdoses the attention they deserve, as we do in any crime investigation involving death or serious physical injury.”
In a separate case, Rowe pleaded guilty to criminal sale of a controlled substance for selling heroin to an undercover police officer assigned to the Orange County Drug Task Force on May 24, 2018, in the Town of Newburgh.
Rowe is scheduled to be sentenced in July.
