Big Road Closing for Extended Time in Orange County
Orange County, NY drivers be aware that a major road is scheduled to close this month and will remain closed for up to two weeks.
There is nothing worse than driving along in the Hudson Valley and running into an unexpected detour that winds up costing you extra time because you had no idea it was there. To avoid that happening to drivers in the Montgomery, NY area of Orange County the town has posted a reminder of a major road closure starting soon.
Coldenham Road in Montgomery, NY Closing
According to the town, Coldenham Road will be closed to traffic starting on or around Monday, August 12th, 2024, and is expected to be closed for approximately 12 days. The road that connects Route 17K and Route 208 in the town of Montgomery will remain closed to allow the Orange County Department of Public Works (OCDPW) to replace the culvert on the road.

The town reminded residents that Orange County is conducting the culvert replacement as it is an Orange County road and directed residents to call OCPDW at 845-291-2750 with any and all questions related to the closure.
The town also shared detailed detour directions for anyone that would normally use the road.
Detour Traveling West on Route 17K
At the intersection of NYS Route 17K and County Rd 75 (Coldenham Road), continue straight on 17K and proceed west for approximately 2.5 miles to Route 208. Drivers should then turn right onto Route 208 and continue north for 2.25 miles to Coldenham Road.
Detour Traveling South on Route 208
At the intersection of NYS Route 208, and County Rd 75 (Coldenham Road), continue straight on RT 208 and proceed south for 2.25 miles to NYS Route 17K. Drivers should then turn left onto Route 17K and proceed east for 2.55 miles to Coledham Road.
