Double check that package of frozen chicken nuggets before you cook them for a quick meal. If you purchased a package of Applegate Naturals Chicken Nuggets, there's been a recall due to the possibility of contamination with extraneous plastic materials.

The USDA reports that Purdue Foods LLC, who produces chicken for Applegate Farms, is recalling more than 4,500 pounds of chicken nuggets. The packages in question are the eight ounce boxed packages containing approximately 18 pieces of “Applegate Naturals Chicken Nuggets” with best before date of 09/27/2016. In addition, they have the number “P-2617” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail distribution centers in Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New York, and Texas.

As of this writing, there haven't been any reports of illnesses but the company has received complaints of consumers finding small, solid, clear plastic inside the chicken nuggets. If you have purchased this item, the USDA is encouraging you to not eat them and either throw them away or return them to the place of purchase. If you have any questions, or would like information, you can contact the Applegate Consumer Relations at  at 1-866-587-5858.
