CVS has announced its plans to close "select" CVS pharmacies inside Target stores across the country, will any New York locations be affected?

Over the last few years CVS, one of the country's biggest names in pharmacies has announced plans to close numerous locations across the country. Back in 2021, they announced they were planning to close about 10% of its U.S. locations, around 900 stores, between 2022 and 2024. Why? According to CNBC, the plans to close locations were to try and "help the company transform from a major drugstore chain into a large health-care company" as well as help to boost the company's struggling profits.

CVS Closing Numerous Locations Inside Target Stores

CVS and numerous other retail pharmacies have struggled in previous years to boost profits. In an attempt to turn that around, CVS has announced that they plan to close select pharmacies inside Target stores across the country. According to a statement from CVS, the closures will begin in February and should be completed by the end of April.

A CVS spokesperson told CNBC that employees affected by the closures will be offered comparable roles within the company and all customer's prescriptions will be transferred to a nearby CVS pharmacy before a location closes.
