When it comes to your breakfast sausage, you might enjoy them with a side of eggs, or possibly a short stack of pancakes, maybe you even add a side of hash browns. But I am pretty sure that little pieces of hard plastic are nowhere on your list of items you would like with your breakfast.

According to the United States Department of Agriculture, Bob Evans Farms, INC. are recalling several types of their breakfast sausage link products due to possible foreign material contamination. To be more specific, pieces of small, clear plastic.

The items involved in the recall are 12-ounce packages of raw sausage products including Bob Evans Maple Pork Sausage Links, with a use by date of Oct. 16, 2018, or Oct. 19, 2018, and Lot Code of 8213;  Bob Evans Brown Sugar & Honey, with a use by date of Sept. 24, 2018 or Sept. 29, 2018, and Lot Code of 8213; Fresh From Meijer Maple Flavored sausage Links, with a use by date of Sept. 06, 2018, and Lot Code of 8213; Giant Eagle Maple Pork Breakfast Sausage Links with a use by date of Sept. 10, 2018, and Lot Code of 8213; and Schnucks Maple Recipe Breakfast Sausage, with a Lot Code of 8213.

These items were sold in stores around the country including those in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. There haven't been any reports of injury, but this was brought to their attention by consumer complaints from those who found the plastic before eating them.

The USDA's concern is that some of these items may be in people's freezers. If you have purchased any of these, do not eat them, return them to the place of purchase. If you have any questions, please call 1-800-939-2338.
