The grocery store chain reminded customers that messages similar to this are fake and that they will never ask customers to click on suspicious links to claim a prize. They clarified that if a customer wins a prize, an Adams representative will reach out to the winner directly by phone, email, or directly from their official account to notify them.

Adams also stated they will never ask for anyone's personal information, credit card details, or payment to receive a prize, and that official winners are announced directly on its verified Facebook page only.

“We’re actively working to have the impersonator removed. Thank you for looking out for us and for each other,” Adams said in a statement posted to social media. “If you’re ever unsure, pause and message us directly here on our official page to confirm!”

What To Do If You Receive One of These Messages

If you receive a message like this, do not click any links and report the account to Facebook as soon as possible.

As scammers continue to evolve their tactics, the best defense is to slow down and verify before you click. If something feels off, it probably is.

Adams Fairacre Farms has five locations in the Hudson Valley, including stores in Poughkeepsie, Kingston/Lake Katrine, Newburgh, Wappingers Falls, and Middletown.
