Yes, it's cold. And yes, your pipes could freeze.

It's officially 2018 and man it's cold, and it doesn't seem to be getting any warmer anytime soon. With all the freezing temperatures the last thing we want to happen is to have our pipes freeze at home.

Yes, it would be a big inconvenience if the pipes freeze at your house but it could also cost you a ton of money to get fixed, which is why we came up with a list of tips that could help you out until spring.

According to the American Red Cross, these are some of the things we can do to prevent pipe freezing at home:

1. If you have water supply lines in the garage, make sure you keep the garage doors closed.

2. Open kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors to allow warmer air to circulate around the plumbing and make sure to move any harmful cleaners and household chemicals up out of the reach of children.

3. If you have any pipes that are exposed, they say to let cold water drip from the faucet, as running water through the pipe will help prevent pipes from freezing.

4. Make sure the thermostat is set to no lower than 55 degrees and make sure you keep the thermostat set to the same temperature both during the day and at night.
