Car Crash Into Hudson Valley Sports Bar Causes Massive Delays
A car slammed into the home of some of the Hudson Valley "best wings around" early Wednesday causing a traffic nightmare for commuters.
If you were driving in the area of Route 17K in Newburgh, New York early Wednesday morning (5/1) and were caught in heavier than normal traffic the reason was most likely a nasty car accident that involved two cars, with one of them crashing into a popular sports bar.
Car Crashes Into Whoo's Sports Bar
The car crash involving two vehicles happened at approximately 6:30 a.m. Wednesday morning and saw one car rolling over and one car crashing into Whoo's Sport's Bar on the side of Route 17K on a section of road that doesn't often see traffic delays according to the Winona Lake Fire Engine Company 2, in Newburgh NY Facebook page.
Winona Chief McGorman and Assistant Chief Gallagher were two of the first responders on the scene and reported significant damage to both of the vehicles involved, significant damage to the building, and a mobile traffic sign that was on the side of 17K informing drivers that construction was starting soon in the area.
Additional first responders quickly arrived on the scene and secured all hazards caused by the accident and after a bit were able to clear the scene.
Everyone Walked Away Without Serious Injuries
Fire officials didn't say what the cause of the accident was but some have speculated that excessive speed was involved by one of the cars involved.
Amazingly nobody was injured in the crash but the sports bar that one of the cars crashed into did incur significant damage.
We spoke to Jim the owner of Whoo's Sports Bar located at 150 Route 17K, Newburgh, NY and he told us that they would be closed on Wednesday to assess the damage and confirmed that they would be open again for business under normal operating hours on Thursday, May 2 at 11 a.m.
