On weekends that I have my kids, I'm always looking for something to do with them.

On Sunday we decided that we were going to take a drive out to Millbrook to walk around and maybe grab something to eat. As we were driving back towards Poughkeepsie my daughter Julianna mentioned that we needed to stop at a place for dessert and said we have to check out a new cookie place.

So we did and let me tell you, if you like macrons, you have to try out Amanda's Macron Shoppe on Route 44 in Poughkeepsie. Now first, for 40 years I've been referring to "macrons" as "macaroons", yes they are both cookies but not the same.

Melissia texted me to explain the difference, she said that, "A macaron is a confection made up of two round, flat, almond flour based cookies sandwiching a type of filling. A macaroon is a mounded cookie made with shredded coconut and dipped in chocolate." THANK YOU!!!

Now that we have that cleared up, Amanda shop features macrons and if you've never tried them, you really need to. They feature all different flavors as Amanda told us. They do seasonal flavors and are now featuring, birthday cake, Italian rainbow, cookie dough, banana bread, cinnamon toast crunch, pizza and many more. She also told us about her menu plans for the holidays with flavors like gingerbread, eggnog, cider and more.

Amanda is also currently dong a contest for us to win a years worth of macrons with a "guess the mystery flavor macron contest." When you stop in to her shop, ask about the mystery flavor and if your taste buds can figure out the mystery flavor, you could win.

You can order online here and see more about some of the great stuff a local Hudson Valley resident is doing to make our community a better place! With more COOKIES!!!
