Imagine scratching off a lottery ticket to see you've won $20,000, only to find out you didn't.

According to PIX 11, Ardella Newman bought a $2 scratch off and matched one of her numbers to the winning numbers and the ticket said she won $20,000.

When she went to cash the ticket in lottery officials told her there had been a big mistake and the ticket was issued in error and that the ticket was worth nothing.

Lottery experts say a normal ticket has the winning numbers on the top. Newman’s ticket had the winning numbers listed on the bottom, meaning the machine may have cut the ticket in the wrong spot.

Newman told PIX 11, “I want the money that I thought I won. If you look at the ticket, it says I won this money. It wasn’t anything that I did wrong. It’s what they did wrong,”

She did file a complaint with the Virginia Lottery.

Does she deserve the $20,000?
