Where did 14 years go?

14 years ago today it was a beautiful day, high 72, low humidity, a few clouds in the sky. No, I don't have an amazing memory, I know this because 14 years ago I married the love of my life and since the wedding was outside in Minnewaska State Park and the reception was also outdoors, the forecast was really important.

We had had good friends introduce us and I thought there's no way this will work. I had seen many of my friends get "fixed-up" with someone with disastrous results. I wasn't exactly hopeful going into this, but I was wrong, very wrong. We hit it off right away and I can't imagine my life without him.

He asked me to marry him on Valentine's Day weekend in 2000. We wanted a simple and peaceful ceremony and day, so July 1st was chosen to be that day. I bought my wedding dress off the rack and spent the month prior to the wedding hand beading it. I also decided that since it would be a small reception, I could make almost all the food myself. Never, ever, ever do that. Ever. I think I scared my husband the night before the wedding as I had a melt down in the kitchen of our apartment. It wasn't pretty.

We were blessed to have had such a beautiful day spent with some of our favorite people. It's amazing how fast 14 years go. We've had our share of great and not so great times, but we've had far more of the great times than the other kind, for that I am very grateful. Here's to another 70 years, at least!
