Last week, I took a vacation and I had high hopes. Even though it was a "Staycation", I was going to relax and get stuff done. Organizing my sewing studio, finally figuring out what exactly is in the pile of boxes that have been in the basement since 2003, and organizing my recipes clipped from numerous magazines were just some of the items on my list. I know, such an exciting life I lead.

Anyway, last Wednesday, while I had papers all over my living room floor, I felt the house shake and heard a loud boom. It scared the bejeebers out of me(I'm not sure that's how you spell it, but you get the drift). I raced outside to see if a car had crashed into our driveway, into our neighbor's house, or into a telephone pole, but I saw nothing. I went out to our screened-in porch, thinking maybe the roof came down, but no it was still there. As I turned to go into the house, this is what I saw.

In the middle of a beautiful summer day, no storms, no wind, just sun, one of our willow trees came tumbling down. This explained the shaking I felt and the boom I heard. It came within 5 feet of hitting our house. I called my husband to tell him what had happened and he said "We don't have a tree that will come that close to the house"  I said, "You wanna bet?"

It got even scarier the closer I got to it.

We have another willow tree, larger than this one, that is apparently having some issues as well and if that comes down it will hit the house. We have also discovered some issues with a few other trees. So, instead of organizing inside the house, we are now working on cleaning up the outside and getting those other trees taken care of.

I am so grateful that the house wasn't damaged and for all of the knowledgeable tree service professionals we have in our area. That being said, can I please take another vacation? I think I need it after this!
