Wallkill Fire Critically Injures Two

The fire happened early this morning.

According to the Daily Freeman, it was a 4 alarm fire that raged through the Silver Lake Apartment complex which is located off Route 211 on Fitzgerald Drive.

The blaze destroyed eighteen apartments, which all had residents in them at the time of the fire.

Town Supervisor Daniel Depew told the Freeman, that two people from the complex were taken to the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. Both were listed in critical condition and there were no updates on their condition at this time.

Several local fire departments, including the Silver Lake Fire Department had to battle the fire and to make matters worse, the responding fire departments had to fight the fire as sleet and freezing rain fell through the night.

As of now, the cause of the early morning fire is undetermined and local fire officials are conducting an investigation as to what was the cause of the fire.
