Verizon Recalls Certain Hotspots Due to Fire & Burn Hazard

So you use a mobile hotspot to get on to the internet. Has it been working okay for you? Even if it has been working for you, you will want to stop using until you get more information about this new recall.

Wait, you should stop using it and then turn it off, then you can get the new info. Here's what is being recalled and why. The particular Verizon Hotspot that is being recalled is the Verizon Ellipsis Jetpack. Sounds fancy, right?

So what is a mobile hotspot? It is a portable device that you can use to get internet service pretty much anywhere you are. Essentially, it takes an over the air signal and makes it work like a wireless internet signal. Does the average consumer need this? Probably not. However if you 'work from the road' or are often trying to work in areas that the internet signal isn't great, you might have looked into them at one point.

So, back to the recall. Well, the particulars of this recalled item are pretty straightforward. The Jetpacks are dark navy in color, plastic oval devices that have the word Verizon on them, are made by Franklin Wireless Corp and are about 3 1/2 inches wide and 2 1/2 inches tall, with the model #'s MHS900L, MHS900LS and MHS900LPP.

Why the recall? Verizon has been made aware that the ion batteries used to power the hotspots can potentially overheat and posing a fire and burn hazard. If you have one of the Jetpack hotspots, contact Verizon so that they can give you specific instructions on how to get a new Jetpack.
