U.S. Marine Corp Dog Honored

This is a well deserved honor.

Let me introduce you to Lucca, a female 12 year old German Shepard. Lucca is a U.S. Marine Corp service dog that has been credited with saving and protecting thousands of troops.

According to ABC, the award is called the Dickin Medal and is given out to animals that have served bravely in military conflict.

Lucca has patrolled conflict areas for years and has protected allied troops and amazingly, has never had a human casualty on one of her patrols.

In Afghanistan a few years back, Lucca was on what would turn out to be her last patrol when she discovered a 30 pound explosive device and was searching for more when another bomb went off. Lucca lost her left leg, but did survive.

The award was given out in London and Lucca is the first U.S. Marine Corp dog to ever win the medal.
