Tornado Watch Issued for Most of New York
No doubt that Hurricane Debby now known as a tropical depression that is hitting the Hudson Valley and surrounding areas today will be keeping us guessing. There have already been heavy downpours in the region as of noon today.
Some areas woke up to tornado watches which have since expired but some new watches and other weather warnings have been posted. Just after 1 PM today, Dutchess County Emergency Management posted to Facebook that the National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for Dutchess County.

Tornado Watches are also in effect for multiple other locations including Orange, Sullivan, Ulster, Putnam, Greene, Rockland, and others. Earlier today Hudson Valley Post shared how we could be expecting a mixed bag of weather due to Tropical Storm Debby merging with other weather fronts. It is important that you stay prepared for rain to heavy, flooding on roads, and a loss of power.
New York has reportedly broken a record with how many tornados we have had this year. The total for 2024 is reported to be currently at 26.
