This Dog Has Been Tops for Twenty Five Years

The cute little fur balls have done it again. For the 25th consecutive year the Labrador Retriever has been named favorite breed in the United States. The AKC reported on this and so did various news outlets over the last 48 hours.

With all the adorable breeds and mixed breeds there are now a days in the dog world it is hard to believe that one breed has take the top slot for so long. But the Labrador has always been a family favorite dog so it is really no surprise that Labs keep capturing the crown.

According to the American Kennel Club the Labrador does have some competition closing in, the French Bulldog jumped up 3 places this year and has jumped 32 slots over the past decade. Rounding out the Top 5 were the German Shepard at number 2, The Golden Retriever at number 3, the Bulldog at number 4 and the Beagle at number 5. These five breeds have been the top 5 breeds for the last three years.
