It's not a local story, but it's quite frustrating to read.

ABC7 News is reporting that a high school student from McHenry Illinois, who also happens to be a Marine, wanted to wear her dress blues while she received her high school diploma, but she was denied.

Megan Howerton is currently serving as a Marine and returned home to walk at her high school graduation. Howerton finished high school earlier than most to jump start her career as a Marine. Graduation took place last week and Megan showed up in her dress blues, representing proudly that she is in the Marines. But was turned away.

Students and friends were outraged and the school stated that the reason she was denied to walk was because "the tradition of cap and gown regalia is aimed at the idea that our graduates are celebrated as a whole and in traditional attire."

I understand trying to limit the amount of "inappropriate outfits," but denying a student in uniform? A bit ridiculous if you ask me.
