If you plan to shop for the holidays in Ulster County this holiday season don't forget to bring your own shopping bag. The sight of shopping bags being carried around town means holiday shopping is underway but in Ulster County those shopping bags aren't as obvious. This is due to the fact that instead of those pricey holiday bags people are now opting for their own reusable bag to save money.

The days of getting over sized shopping bags are gone unless you are making your own. The new Bring Your Own Bag Act has already gone into effect in Ulster County so that means the average shopping bag has shrunk too. I can remember when one of the perks of Christmas shopping was getting cool bags you could re-use.

Their are still some cool bags around but if you want one it's going cost you. Ulster county retailers are now charging you if you need a shopping bag. The couty requires it. This actually started earlier this fall in preparation for all of New York State to adopt this policy in March of 2020.
